Tripart – the support your horses need

Horse

In order to function properly, muscles require an optimal supply of vitamins, minerals and amino acid. Deficiencies in these nturients can predispose the disorders of the muscles, such as tying-up (exertional rhabdomyolysis). Tying-up is a well-recognised muscle disease which involves muscle cramping following exercise. There are several cuases of Tying-up, which can be on-off episode associated with over-exercisign an unfit horse or a chronic disease requiring veterinary diagnosis and treatment. Management involves careful attention to exercise and dietary modifications. Nutritional supplements can assist in the prevention of Tying-up as well as improve muscle function and recovery.

Selenium is an essential component of the enzyme glutathione preoxidase, which removes toxic peroxide free radicals(1). Selenium deficiency cna result in mypathy, weakness, fatigue and white muscle disease(1). Selenium is recommended to help preven Tying-up in horses(2).

Magnesium and potassium aspartates are used in the treatment of fatigue and exhaustion in humans and of the sodium/potassium imbalance which accompanies these fatigue states(3); The aspartates improve endurance by decreasing blood lactate and ammonia, thus delaying fatigue. Selenium and potassium aspartates are potent anti-oxidants and help to limit muscle damage incurred as a result of strenuous work.

Nicotinamide is a vitamin B substance, which is converted in the body to the coenzymes adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP). These coenzymes are essential in glycogen metabolism, oxidation of fatty acids for energy production and tiussue respiration. Supplementing nictoinamide (Vit B3) helps in increasing the use of glycogen for energy and arginine acts as a vehicle transport, storage and excretion of nitrogen. L-argenine is a an essential amino acid which is involved in many metabolic processes and is converted in the body into a chemical called nitric oxide which imporves blood flow. Lysine is an essential amino acid which is concentrated in muscle tissue and helps absorb calcium , promotes bone growth and collagen formation. Lysine is the most limiting amino acid for growth. Lysine deficiency may contribute to reduced growth and immunity. Vitamin B12(Cyanocobalamin) forms part of the coenzymes which are essential for the production of all cells, particularly rapdily turning over cells such a sred blood cells, muscle, gut lining and bone marrow cells. Deficiency may cause anaemia and alter nerve function. TRIPART is a blend of these esssential co-factors and may help to ensure that muscle metabolism is optimised, that energy supply to msucles is adequate and reduce the risk of lactic acidosis, muscle fatigue and Tying-up.
